David Philip Ireland's 'Rattlesnake Jar' - the new Poetry Opus released first as an eBook on Amazon

S For Story/10471575
Rattlesnake Jar has a rhythm and a lyricism that takes the reader on journeys that twist and turn, and lead to thoughts and ideas that are full of surprises - almost like the unfolding of a flower or an unexpected change in the weather.

STROUD, U.K. - s4story -- UK poet David Philip Ireland has finally published his latest poetry book - Rattlesnake Jar!

Rattlesnake Jar offers a selection of more than one hundred poems and lyrics, written over the past few decades, with a cover designed by illustrator Ruben Ireland.

There is hope, there is love, there is sadness - disappointment and disillusionment too. The poetic process delves so deep into the memory

that little fragments of life will come shining brightly through, or slowly seeping their darkling ooze through the cracks.

Rattlesnake Jar has a loosely chronological feel to it - there is most certainly a beginning, a middle, and the approximation of an ending. Finality feels a little too final, but colouring much of the work is the reality that, one day, there may not be another sunrise or another moon.

David says about his work; 'I draw on my childhood, my family, my love, politics and confrontation, and the days and nights of my life - meandering gently through the decades with a sense of constant wonder and surprise.

We live and have lived, through interesting times. Times of great cultural change and progress, running the gamut from greed through idealism - stumbling into foolishness and turmoil, and now, clawing our blinkered way out of a pandemic.

My writing is deeply personal. I respond emotionally to my surroundings, to events, to the very act of breathing. My words come from deep within'

David is hyper-prolific at this time in his life. He continues;

'There are words here that are fresh and new. Some written mere days before the press date. And there are some from the year I turned seventeen. Just reverse those numbers for my current age. Maybe that's what this book is about. Rounding things off. These poems represent how I feel now. Choices made at this point in my life...'

'I hope that you find something here to touch you - to move you in some way, to leave you with the traces of a life lived...'
