In reality the characters in this book are many, because the Lilly's Jewish family is numerous, whose relationships are marked by a deep affection and mutual solidarity. Not lacking in this detailed and fascinating reconstruction of a family history extended to the destiny of a community, the episodes of misunderstanding, the quarrels, the expulsions, as happens to Lilly who, after a trip to Istanbul by his aunt Izabela, begins to caress the dream of leaving home to become an actress. Caparbia and already mature before many of his peers, the young Lilly even manages to learn in a short time the Yiddish to be admitted to the Warsaw Academy of Arts. But there is a bigger story that progressively shakes the lives of all Polish Jews: the war of the Nazi regime against them. From the first intimidation to the racial laws, to the final solution, Lilly's album recounts with a dramatic intensity and realism the savage discrimination towards the Polish citizens of Jewish origin, the answers that the community itself was able to give in front of a tragedy whose proportions were then unimaginable. Uri J. Nachimson was born in Szczecin, Poland, in 1947, and two years later his parents emigrated to Israel. As a youngster he loved writing, photographing and painting, and in 1966 he was drafted into the Israeli army where he served as a war photographer in the Northern Command. He participated in the Six Day War as a photographer in combat and his photographs have been exhibited in various exhibitions. His travels in Egypt were the inspiration for his book ''Seeds of Love''. When he returned to Poland in 1990 in search for his roots, he was deeply shocked by the attitude of the Poles towards the Jews, both during and after the Second World War, and decided to research the history of the Jews of Poland during that period. 'era. Thus the trilogy was born: Lilly's album, The Polish Patriot and Identity. The book The Polish Patriot has been translated and published in English, Italian, Polish , Portuguese and Spanish. It was presented at the Turin International Book Fair and is located at the United States Holocaust memorial Museum in Washington. He also wrote Two Margherita and Broken Hearts on Boulevard Unirii which was recently translated into Italian.
