GLENDALE, Ariz., Jan. 10, 2025 ~ Phoenix, AZ - West-MEC, a career technical education school district (CTED) in the West Valley, has recently announced the groundbreaking of a $13.5 million expansion project at its Northeast Campus. The ceremony was attended by representatives from West-MEC, Orcutt I Winslow, and McCarthy Building Companies Inc.

The expansion project will add two new training facilities to the campus located at 1617 W. Williams Dr. in Phoenix. These facilities will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and will provide more space to accommodate additional students.

According to Dr. Scott Spurgeon, West-MEC's Superintendent, the demand for advanced manufacturing, welding, and electric vehicle (EV) repair is on the rise in Arizona and across the nation. He stated that this expansion project is a step towards ensuring that students receive proper education and workforce experience to prepare them for successful careers in these industries.
