Ashley Sofia Returns with "Heart Like You," First New Music in Seven Years
S For Story/10691006
Lead single from forthcoming album REMNANTS, produced by Ken Coomer, arrives April 28, 2026
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - s4story -- Ashley Sofia will release "Heart Like You," her first new music in seven years, on April 28, 2026. The single is the lead release from REMNANTS, her forthcoming third studio album, produced by Ken Coomer, founding drummer of Wilco.
Though "Heart Like You" may initially register as a breakup song, it was written in response to the professional betrayal of a trusted collaborator. Built around acoustic guitar, upright bass, and a quietly cutting vocal, the song explores the collapse of a dream and the clarity that comes after it.
"We all have a great heartbreak. Some schism running through our lives wide enough you feel like you could see it from space. This song is about mine. I didn't write this about someone I loved romantically. It was about someone I worked with who stole my time and my trust, yanked me around, and abandoned me when I needed them most. Nothing can ever break your heart quite like a broken dream," Sofia says.

The release marks a major return for the Nashville-based singer-songwriter, whose time away from recording was shaped by serious health struggles, that at times took her off the road and threatened her voice. During that same stretch, her home was struck by a tornado, a surreal and violent event that only deepened the sense of upheaval behind REMNANTS. Those years became the foundation for the album, a ten-song work written solely by Sofia and centered on loss, survival, betrayal, illness, and the relationships that endure through all of it.
Recorded at Cartoon Moon Recording Studio in Nashville, REMNANTS expands beyond the Laurel Canyon folk sound of Sofia's earlier work into richer, more electric territory while preserving the intimate songwriting at the center of her music. The full album is expected in late fall 2026.
