S For Story/10670759
An Atlanta voice shares a letter about being seen, choosing self-worth, and co-creating a life of peace with God; national release September 20, 2025.

ATLANTA - s4story -- Mika Dean Newton, an Atlanta-based writer and creative, is a contributing author in the forthcoming Dear Black Woman Anthology, a national collection of first-person letters by Black women to their younger selves and to one another. The book releases September 20, 2025.

Newton's letter speaks to a childhood spent quiet, over-responsible, and unseen, then traces a steady return to voice, softness, and faith. "I see you. I've always seen you," she tells her younger self, before naming the lies that attach to early burdens and replacing them with worth, safety, and love. She closes with clear guidance: "Your softness is your power. Your truth is your liberation."
