ORADELL, N.J. - s4story -- Ballet Arts proudly celebrates its 50th Anniversary Season with a vibrant new production of Coppélia, presented in collaboration with the Adelphi Orchestra. Performances will take place on May 2, 2026 at 7:00 PM and May 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM at River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey.
This fully staged production features live orchestral accompaniment, guest artists, and a multigenerational cast of dancers, showcasing both emerging talent and seasoned performers from the Bergen County community.
Last performed by Ballet Arts in 2017, Coppélia returns in a fresh staging that captures the ballet's humor, charm, and timeless appeal. Set to the beloved score by Léo Delibes, the work blends classical technique with lighthearted storytelling, making it ideal for audiences of all ages.
"Coppélia is the perfect way to celebrate our 50th anniversary," said Artistic Directors Jane Silane and Marilyn Westlake-Nichols. "It reflects our commitment to artistic excellence, joyful storytelling, and community engagement. Collaborating with the Adelphi Orchestra brings an exciting dimension to this milestone production."

Since its 1870 premiere, Coppélia has delighted audiences worldwide. The story follows Swanhilda and Franz, whose romance is tested by the eccentric Dr. Coppelius and his lifelike mechanical doll. Filled with mistaken identities and comedic twists, the ballet celebrates love, wit, and imagination.
The production will be conducted by Valentina Paolucci, an internationally recognized Argentinian-Italian conductor and violinist. A Juilliard School-trained artist and Conducting Fellow with The Chelsea Symphony, Paolucci brings a dynamic and expressive interpretation to Delibes' score.
This anniversary production highlights Ballet Arts' commitment to arts education and collaboration. The cast spans three generations, with principal roles performed by Madeleine Krieger and Margaret Hahn (Swanhilda), alongside guest artists Vince Pelegrin (American Ballet Theatre) and Jack Silane.
Advanced student musicians will join professional players from the Adelphi Orchestra in rehearsals and performances, offering a rare opportunity to experience live orchestral collaboration. The performances also mark a milestone for graduating seniors Atiya Jackson, Tessa Klein, and Madeleine Krieger.
