Rushing Headlong examines how decades of health information technology decisions have shaped today's fragmented U.S. healthcare system, and what it will take to harness generative AI responsibly for patients, clinicians, and researchers. Drawing on Dr. Ho's experience across clinical care, pharma, electronic health records, and real-world evidence, it offers a candid look at entrenched incentives, regulatory inertia, and the structural barriers that make it difficult for patients to access their own data or for physicians to use technology in truly patient-centric ways.
"I wanted to capture both the urgency and the possibility of this moment in health IT and AI, and to show how people on the front lines of patient care can help guide the design of our information systems toward better care, better science, and better trust," says Dr. Ho. "This book is for anyone who has ever felt frustrated by healthcare's complexity yet hopeful about what responsible innovation can do, and I'm thrilled to share it with readers at Barnes & Noble Holmdel."
