Beeston to host a tarot deck swap this May
S For Story/10689730
NOTTS, U.K. - s4story -- A new community event celebrating tarot decks, card art and conversation is coming to Beeston this May.
The Beeston Tarot Swap will take place at Yellow Wood Cafe on Saturday 16 May 2026, giving people the chance to bring along tarot decks to swap, browse different editions, and meet others with an interest in tarot and card culture.
The event arrives at a time when tarot has become far more visible in mainstream culture, especially among younger audiences. Recent coverage has pointed to the growth of TikTok's WitchTok scene, where tarot, astrology and related content now sit within a much wider online culture of visuals, trends, collecting and identity. Vogue reported that there were 9.6 million videos under the #WitchTok hashtag in late 2025, while a separate 2025 feature noted growing interest in tarot and oracle decks as part of a wider rise in demand for visually distinctive products.
Open to readers, collectors, artists and complete newcomers, the Beeston Tarot Swap is designed as a friendly get-together. Guests can bring pre-loved decks to exchange, or simply come along to see what is out there, compare artwork, and join the conversation. The focus is less on readings and more on the decks themselves as designed objects, printed artworks and cultural artefacts.

The event organizer, Finbarre Snarey, said: "Tarot has become much more visible in recent years, especially online, but a lot of that attention happens through screens. What interested me here was creating an offline space where people can actually look through decks, talk about the artwork, and share what they have found. You do not need to be an expert to come along. If you are interested in a tradition that has existed for centuries, that is enough."
The swap also connects with wider independent work in Nottinghamshire documenting tarot culture, including the British Tarot Archive.
