PHILADELPHIA - s4story -- Archbishop Mary Floyd Palmer, affectionately known as Bishop Mary, is a lifelong Philadelphia native and the eldest daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Melvin Floyd and Mrs. Elizabeth Floyd, whose legendary 45-year street ministry transformed communities across the city. Rooted in a powerful legacy of faith and service, Bishop Mary has dedicated more than 58 years to ministry, music, leadership, and community transformation across local, national, and international platforms.
A proud graduate of Philadelphia High School for Girls, she excelled in academics, athletics, and music. Her academic achievements include a Doctor of Ministry (2016), a Doctor of Humane Letters (2021), and a Ph.D. (2024). Bishop Mary's influence extends beyond the pulpit into civic and international service, where she serves as a Special Deputy Lieutenant with the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office, an international chaplain, peace ambassador, and holds leadership roles within global humanitarian and consulting councils.

Gifted in music from an early age—singing at three and playing piano by eight—Bishop Mary has spent decades in gospel ministry, choir direction, and musical leadership alongside some of the most respected names in church music. Her life's work is rooted in outreach, having served in prison ministry since 1998, developed evangelism training programs, and founded Community Healing Project 4 All, Inc., an organization focused on restoring communities block by block through healing, dialogue, and service.
