~ In a unanimous decision, the Council has recognized National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and honored the crucial role of 911 dispatchers in emergency situations. Councilors Flynn and Murphy emphasized the need to reclassify 911 dispatchers as first responders rather than clerical workers. They acknowledged the unique demands and emotional toll of the job and expressed their support for state legislation such as the 911 SAVES Act and House Bill H.2667, which aim to provide dispatchers with the same benefits as other first responders.
