Calgary Author and ACEs Educator Lisa May LeBlanc to Present at A.C.E. Conference in Texas
S For Story/10689180
Certified Stephen Minister, Worship Leader, and award-shortlisted author delivers "Healing the Heart of Community: Shifting Faith Culture Through ACEs Understanding" — drawing from her own journey through religious legalism and faith community
ARLINGTON, Texas - s4story -- Lisa May LeBlanc, Calgary-based author, Certified ACEs Educator, and mental health peer supporter, will present at the A.C.E. Awareness International Conference in Arlington, Texas on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Her session, "Healing the Heart of Community: Shifting Faith Culture Through ACEs Understanding," equips faith community leaders, advocates, and caregivers with practical tools to become trauma-informed communities of belonging.
The conference, hosted by the BeVicTORIEus Educational Services Foundation, runs April 9–11 at the DoubleTree Hilton Arlington DFW South and brings together survivors, educators, and clinicians advancing ACEs awareness across North America.

For LeBlanc, this presentation is personal. As the youngest of nine children in a farm family shaped by religious legalism, she experienced firsthand how faith communities can become sources of harm. Her memoir, The Ninth Child — shortlisted for a Word Guild Award and available in print and on Audible — documents her journey from trauma-induced mental illness to healing.
"ACEs don't stop at the church door. Faith communities have an incredible capacity to be places of resilience and healing — but only when we stop asking 'What is wrong with them?' and start asking 'What happened to them? What do they need? How can we be a safe place?' That shift changes everything." — Lisa May LeBlanc
Drawing on her credentials as a Certified Stephen Minister, Worship Leader, Friendship Lab Facilitator, and Certified ACEs Educator, LeBlanc bridges neuroscience and faith values — compassion, mercy, justice, dignity, and belonging — to challenge communities to move from judgment to curiosity.

She is also the host of Lattes With Lisa, a weekly live Instagram interview series on mental health and trauma recovery.
