Chioma Chime Expands Her Children's Book Series with Igbo Language Edition to Promote Personal Safety

New Igbo Edition of Don't Touch Me There Provides Essential Tools for Teaching Children About Personal Boundaries
ATLANTA - s4story -- Chioma Chime, an author, speaker, and dedicated advocate for survivors of sexual abuse, is thrilled to announce the release of the Igbo-language version of her empowering children's book Don't Touch Me There: The Personal Bubble Emetụla M Aka Ebe Ahụ: Bọbụl Nke Onye (Ịmụta banyere ókè). This new edition of the book is designed to educate children in Igbo-speaking communities about the importance of personal boundaries, helping them understand the value of saying "no" when someone invades their personal space.
More on S For Story
The Igbo edition of Don't Touch Me There carries the same message of empowerment found in the original English and Spanish versions. The book encourages children to embrace their right to control their own bodies and asserts that their personal safety matters. The story follows a group of children in a classroom setting as they learn about their "safe space" or "personal bubble." As the narrative unfolds, the children are taught how to recognize uncomfortable situations and understand that it is always okay to speak up to a trusted adult when something doesn't feel right.
This new version of the book specifically caters to the Igbo community—one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa—primarily based in southeastern Nigeria, with a significant diaspora in countries like Cameroon and beyond. Chioma Chime, who hails from this community, understands the importance of preserving culture while educating the next generation about personal safety. In her words: "By offering this book in Igbo, we are empowering the children of this culture to confidently assert their boundaries, while also reinforcing the essential role of trusted adults in their lives."

Chioma's work extends far beyond writing books. As the founder of I'm Relevant and Shero's Empowerment Foundation, she has spent years advocating for the rights and well-being of survivors of sexual violence in the U.S. and Nigeria. Don't Touch Me There serves as an invaluable resource for parents, caregivers, and educators who are seeking ways to educate children about boundaries in an accessible, engaging way.
The vibrant illustrations in the Igbo edition of Don't Touch Me There bring the story to life, making it a perfect educational tool for homes, schools, and community centers. This edition strengthens the cultural connection to the message, all while promoting healthy communication and safe environments for children everywhere. Don't Touch Me There is now available at all major online bookstores and retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Target, and more.
