Community First Health Plans Announces Theresa Scepanski as President and Chief Executive Officer

SAN ANTONIO - s4story -- Community First Health Plans (CFHP), the only locally owned and managed, non-profit health plan in San Antonio, is pleased to announce that Theresa Scepanski has been named as President and Chief Executive Officer. Scepanski, previously was the Interim President and Chief Executive Officer for the last six months. Ms. Scepanski's employment began in early August.
Scepanski has over 35 years of experience in health care, human resources development and leadership. Scepanski will be the first woman to lead Community First since its inception in 1995.
"Our legacy is built on how we have innovated health care services for our community and moving forward with Theresa is the perfect direction for Community First," said Rene Escobedo, Community First Health Plans Chairman of the Board. "Theresa's vast knowledge and experience in HealthCare management and business development will significantly strengthen our commitment to provide Bexar County and surrounding communities great health care benefits and services."

"I am very excited to lead the Community First team," said Theresa Scepanski. "CFHP has a great business model and there is an opportunity to enhance its commitment to the community by providing quality health coverage and outstanding customer service. As the healthcare industry evolves due to the global pandemic, Community First is in a unique position to provide health plans that are cost effective and timely to individuals and families of all stages of life, especially when it's most needed."
Scepanski's vast knowledge and skill has led her to lead several key management roles and eventually to her current position. Scepanski spearheaded significant improvements and expansions in all areas of responsibility from Human Resources, Center for Learning Excellence, Volunteer Services, Employee Health, Safety & Wellness, Environment of Care, Emergency Preparedness and Detention Health Care Services.
Scepanski's board affiliations include Texas Association of Health Plans, Texas Association of Community Health Plans, and Healthcare Access San Antonio. She has also served as Chair for the University Health System annual United Way Campaign since 2006.

Scepanski grew up in San Antonio and is a graduate of Harlandale High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communications and a Master of Arts in Human Resources Development, graduating with honors.
