A Cure In Sight Advances Ocular Melanoma Advocacy During Rare Disease Week 2026 in Washington, DC

Patients, Advocates, and Industry Leaders Unite to Advance Ocular Melanoma Research and Amplify Rare Disease Voices on Capitol Hill
RALEIGH, N.C. - s4story -- Washington, DC — A Cure In Sight (ACIS) proudly joined the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Disease Week on Capitol Hill, held February 23–26, 2026, in Washington, DC. The event brought together patients, caregivers, advocates, and industry leaders from across the country to raise awareness and advocate for increased federal support for rare disease research, including ocular melanoma.
Throughout the week, ACIS played an active role in amplifying the voices of the ocular melanoma community. Advocates met directly with Congressional leaders to emphasize the urgent need for sustained funding, improved access to innovative treatments, and continued investment in research for rare cancers. By sharing real-world patient experiences, the organization helped ensure that ocular melanoma remains part of the national healthcare conversation.
In advance of Capitol Hill meetings, ACIS hosted a collaborative planning session to align messaging and strengthen advocacy efforts. This session brought together patients, families, and stakeholders to develop a unified voice and clear priorities, ensuring that patient perspectives remained central in all discussions with policymakers.

The event also provided meaningful opportunities for connection and collaboration. Open dialogue sessions encouraged participants to ask important questions, exchange ideas, and discuss promising advancements in research and treatment. The day concluded with a community dinner, where attendees strengthened relationships and continued conversations that will help shape future initiatives.
"Rare Disease Week is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when our community comes together. By sharing our stories and advocating as one voice, we are helping drive real change for patients living with ocular melanoma and other rare diseases."
The momentum from Rare Disease Week 2026 reinforces ACIS's ongoing commitment to advocacy, research, and patient support. The organization is already planning for Rare Disease Week 2027, with the goal of expanding participation and continuing to elevate the needs of the rare disease community.
