S For Story/10666705
LAKELAND, Fla., July 25, 2025 ~ In a major victory for labor rights, over 270 warehouse workers at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits in Lakeland, Florida have ratified their first collective bargaining agreement. The workers, represented by Teamsters Local 79, voted overwhelmingly in favor of the agreement.

John Sholtes, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 79, praised the success of the Teamsters in securing this agreement. "This is a classic example of how the Teamsters can produce landslide organizing victories," he stated. "We are proud of how our fellow Teamsters have fought to improve their jobs and to help change their lives for the better."

The four-year agreement includes significant improvements for the workers, such as increased wages, comprehensive medical benefits, seniority rights, a pension plan, and additional paid leave. Jeff Padellaro, Director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference, emphasized the importance of collective union voice in achieving this contract. "Our newest Teamsters members fought hard and have a contract they can be proud of," he said.
