Generations For America Foundation Penmanship Summercamp Celebrates America's 250th Birthday

S For Story/10694403
CHARLESTON, S.C. - s4story -- MONCKS CORNER, SC — Generations For America Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with local organization Jean's Angel to launch an innovative, six-week summer camp program designed to enhance youth literacy and historical knowledge. Running from June 15, 2026, through July 20, 2026, the program will provide students of all ages with rigorous print and cursive penmanship instruction seamlessly woven into lessons on the United States Constitution and American history.

As the nation reflects on 250 years of American history, this program addresses a critical gap in modern education. America's founding documents were originally drafted in cursive—an art form that is systematically disappearing from modern school curriculums. Generations For America Foundation recognizes that cursive remains essential for reading core historical texts, strengthening cognitive motor skills, and accelerating overall literacy.

To maximize student engagement, instructors will utilize music throughout the week as an educational tool to refine penmanship. Additionally, every participating child will receive a copy of the foundation's proprietary "Color Across America" patriotic coloring book series, designed to make learning U.S. history a tactile and memorable experience.

"Our mission is to foster civic literacy, preserve American heritage, and champion penmanship education," said Ingrid Centurion, founder and president of Generations For America Foundation. "By teaching children the physical art of handwriting through the lens of the U.S. Constitution, we are anchoring them to our nation's history while building tangible academic skills."

The program is seeking local volunteers to help promote history and guide students during their daily lessons. Handwriting instruction takes place three times a week from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, starting Monday, June 15. Volunteers will report daily from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at 956 South Live Oak, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. This initiative provides a highly meaningful community service opportunity for high school students, retirees, and civic-minded individuals looking to secure community service hours.Generations For America Foundation is also accepting charitable donations to help scale its educational programming and distribute the "Color Across America" coloring books to a wider audience. Community members can learn more about volunteer registration, operational updates, or donation methods by contacting the foundation immediately via  phone or email.
