Generous Anonymous Gift Brings New Life to Piedmont Crossing Dog Park
S For Story/10690607
THOMASVILLE, N.C. - s4story -- THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Thanks to a generous donation stewarded through the EveryAge Foundation, Piedmont Crossing has unveiled a fully upgraded dog park—enhancing quality of life for both residents and their four-legged companions.
The gift, made by a dog-loving donor who wishes to remain anonymous, was guided by a simple but powerful desire: to create a safer, more enjoyable outdoor space for residents and their pets. The previous dog park struggled with grading issues that caused muddy puddles and standing water. Through the support of the EveryAge Foundation, these challenges were addressed, transforming the area into a welcoming, functional environment year-round.
The newly enhanced dog park—officially named Wiggley Field Bark Park—features improved grading, expanded space, and the addition of shaded areas beneath mature pine trees, offering relief from the North Carolina sun. The result is a vibrant gathering place where residents can connect, stay active, and enjoy meaningful moments with their pets.
Piedmont Crossing is a 62-acre continuing care retirement community in Thomasville, North Carolina, known for its inclusive, pet-friendly culture—with no weight restrictions for dogs. Executive Director Jan Briggs emphasized the importance of that commitment:

"We know how deeply important pets are to our residents. They're not just companions, they're family. At Piedmont Crossing, we believe no one should have to leave a beloved pet behind when they move into senior living."
The project also reflects the broader mission of the EveryAge Foundation, which exists to enrich the lives of the EveryAge family by helping people in need and making dreams come true. The Foundation ensures that gifts—large or small—are thoughtfully directed to projects that align with donor intent while making a tangible impact. From capital improvements—like this dog park enhancement at Piedmont Crossing—to signature initiatives such as Grant A Dream™, the EveryAge Foundation helps turn generosity into meaningful change.
To celebrate the opening of Wrigley Bark Park, Piedmont Crossing will host a Blessing of the Animals on Wednesday, April 28, 2026. Chaplain Bob Symanski, Director of Spiritual Life at Piedmont Crossing, will lead the ceremony. Residents, community members, and members of the media are invited to attend and are welcome to bring their animals for this special blessing.
