S For Story/10687661
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - s4story -- The Global Learning Charter Public School Drama Club brings the ghost with the most to the stage next week with three performances of Beetlejuice. The musical that began as a motion picture and became a Broadway phenomenon introduces the audience to quirky teenager, Lydia Dietz who is obsessed with the supernatural. Shortly after moving into a new house, the teenager discovers it is being haunted by a deceased couple and by a demon named Beetlejuice.
The show is directed by Ms. Polly Zajac, GLCPS Grade 5 science teacher with musical direction by Denise Bastos.
"We are dedicating this production and performance to the beloved Armand Marchand who passed away early last summer," said Ms. Zajac. Mr. Marchand and his husband, George Charbonneau, co-founded the New Bedford Festival Theatre and co-directed the New Bedford High School Drama Club for decades. "Armand had a profound influence on both Ms. Bastos and me. Both of us were students of his when we were in high school."
