Harry Hayman of Feed Philly Coalition Proudly Supports Sharing Excess' Holiday Food Rescue — Bri
S For Story/10680549
Harry Hayman, on behalf of Feed Philly Coalition, is honored to stand with Evan Ehlers and Sharing Excess, whose model is transforming food rescue across the Philadelphia region.
PHILADELPHIA - s4story -- This week, Sharing Excess mobilized one of the season's most inspiring efforts: a single toy truck delivering 35,000 pounds of fresh, high-quality food directly to families who need it most.
That's not a typo. Not symbolic. It's literal impact—measured in pounds, meals, dignity, and joy.
A message from Harry Hayman IV, founder, Feed Philly Coalition
"Supporting Sharing Excess is easy—they represent the future of food justice in America. Evan and his team don't just talk about change; they move food, feed people, hustle, care, and build systems that make hunger unacceptable in a city of this size. Feed Philly Coalition is proud to amplify their work, especially during the holidays when need and compassion both peak. This is what a modern food economy should look like: efficient, abundant, collaborative, local, and deeply human—and it's key we all work together to address this epidemic."
Why this matters
In a country where millions of edible pounds are wasted daily, Sharing Excess redirects surplus toward families, not landfills. This holiday operation activated regional partners, rerouted tens of thousands of pounds of groceries, helped families preserve dignity during a financially stressful season, and proved what's possible when purpose-driven organizations unite. At the center is Evan Ehlers—a disruptor and doer—and I fondly remember meeting him as a Drexel student at the former Sunday Breakfast kitchen.
