Former Opponent Endorses Martin Karp for School Board Dist 3
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - s4story -- Hayley Ross, former candidate for the Miami-Dade County School Board in District 3, has announced her endorsement of her former opponent, Martin Karp, for the District 3 School Board seat.
Mrs. Ross, a mother, grandmother, advocate, and former teacher, launched her run for the school board to bring greater transparency and accountability in our governance and restore a focus on the fundamentals of education rather than politics and social issues that distract our elected officials. She lost in the primary to Martin Karp and Joe Geller, who are now in a run-off on the November ballot.
In her statement, Mrs. Ross said, "I wholeheartedly and without reservation endorse Dr. Martin Karp for Miami-Dade School Board District 3. Dr. Karp has an unwavering commitment to the students and staff of Miami-Dade public schools. His decades of experience in the classroom and academic leadership are exemplary. Martin is well-equipped to address the challenges our schools in Miami-Dade County face today. He has demonstrated his dedication to fostering and enriching the educational environment for all students. His prior years on the school board were ones of academic growth and excellence for our students. Above all, Dr. Karp will bring the academic integrity he has always demonstrated back to the school board."

Martin Karp previously served as a school board member, serving four terms (16 consecutive years) as an elected official and Miami-Dade County school board member. While on the School Board, his colleagues selected him as the Board's Vice-Chair during the 2006-2007, 2012-2013, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019 school years. During his service, he stayed connected to the classroom by working as a teacher and consultant for a nonprofit foundation supporting education initiatives. Most recently served as Dean of Academic Affairs and Community Engagement for the Talmudic University consortium of schools, which includes Yeshiva Elementary School, Yeshiva Middle School, Mechina High School, and numerous adult and community education programs.
In recognition of his dedication to advancing education for all children, Dr. Karp, who is also an Eagle Scout, has received many awards, including the "Cervantes Outstanding Educator Award." In 2019, he was inducted into the Miami Beach Senior High School Hall of Fame. In 2020, he received the Miami-Dade County Council PTA/PTSA Lifetime Legacy Award. Most recently, in June of 2022, he was named the recipient of the Yeshiva Elementary School, Yeshiva Middle School, and Aderes Educational Leadership Award.
