BOSTON - s4story -- ILSSA Boston Announces the Creation of the Mario Colangelo Memorial Scholarship
Boston, MA – The Board of Directors of The International Lodging Safety & Security Association – Boston Chapter (ILSSA Boston) is proud to announce the establishment of the Mario Colangelo Memorial Scholarship, honoring the life and legacy of the late Mario Colangelo, CPP, CFE, who passed away suddenly, one year ago, on October 18, 2024.
Mario was a respected leader, mentor, and friend within the hospitality and security community. With decades of experience and a steadfast commitment to protecting both people and property, Mario's contributions left a lasting impact on hotel safety and security standards throughout Boston and beyond. His dedication to professional excellence, mentorship, and service to others exemplified the very values that ILSSA Boston continues to uphold.

The Mario Colangelo Memorial Scholarship will provide financial support to hospitality security professionals and students pursuing college or higher education, training, or certification in the fields of Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement and Security Management or related fields. By investing in the next generation of industry leaders, this scholarship ensures Mario's legacy will continue to inspire and guide future professionals committed to protecting not only guests, employees, but the community at large.
"Mario's passing was a tremendous loss to our association and to the entire Boston hospitality community," said Michael Soper, Chairman of ILSSA Boston. "By establishing this scholarship in his name, we are not only honoring his memory but also carrying forward his lifelong mission of mentoring and developing the next generation of safety and security professionals."
