ORLANDO, Fla. - s4story -- The Noodynamic Institute, an international non-profit educational foundation, releases the first volume of THE PHENOMENOLOGY OF CULTURE-SYSTEMS, a massive six-volume tome with the objective of defining 'culture' as a social datum, explaining its universal modes of expression, and interpreting its historical diversity.   The most significant development along these lines seems to be the the Institute's assertion that humans have evolved 'culture-systems,' which are patterns of self-organization characterized by emergent properties, that have traditionally been called 'high culture.'
The theme of volume one, which bears the title GRAND SYNTHESIS: MYTHOLOGY OF THE 21st CENTURY, must be described as among the most ambitious ever attempted: the comprehensive and definitive extrapolation of the culture-system and its manifestations in history as science, spirituality, art, philosophy, religion, and technology, from phenomenological, semiotic, structuralist, as well as scientific perspectives. Using logical and analogical arguments, the Institute demonstrates the underlying unity of all cultural manifestations, which it calls 'modes of expression' (including, controversially, science and technology), and also introduces a new field of study called 'psychography,' a scholarly examination of the collective character of individual culture-systems.
