Katrina's Dream marks its 20th anniversary, evolving from a modest initiative into a global movement for peace, justice, and equality, highlighted by its third UN Commission on the Status of Women event and advocacy for the Equal Rights Amendment

ASTORIA, N.Y. - s4story -- Katrina's Dream, founded on August 26, 2005, amidst the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, marks its 20th anniversary as a global movement for peace, justice, and equality. What began as a modest initiative by Helene de Boissiere-Swanson and family has grown into a powerful force amplifying diverse voices united for a shared goal: equality for all.

This year, Katrina's Dream hosted its third United Nations Commission on the Status of Women event on March 10, 2025, in New York City, featuring panelists from AI, Automation, Amazon Labor Unions, and the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The organization continues to advocate for the ERA, with recent meetings alongside ERA Action with Senators Lisa Murkowski, Cynthia Lummis, and Joni Ernst to advance bipartisan support for Murkowski's resolution to establish the ERA as the 28th Amendment. Senator Susan Collins has pledged her support, and upcoming talks with Senators Grassley and Marino signal growing momentum.

Katrina's Dream also champions workers' rights, with Helene de Boissiere-Swanson filing complaints with the FTC, New York State Attorney General's Office, and OSHA regarding workplace issues at Amazon. These efforts underscore the organization's commitment to justice in the information age.

Inspired by Rev. Kathryn Piccard's "Bubble of Love" concept, Katrina's Dream fosters person-to-person connections to counter negative rhetoric and build a future of equality. The organization invites supporters to join its "Power of 10" network, follow its work on X and Facebook, and use the Power of One Script to advocate for change.
