A Life for Barabbas is a Journey of Redemption of a Man Who Thought Himself to be Irredeemable
S For Story/10443356
"A Life for Barabbas," Stan Escott's debut novel slated for an October 30 release, is a story of redemption focused on Barabbas, a little-known character who is referenced in only eleven Bible verses in the New Testament.
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - s4story -- This part adventure story, part historical fiction creates a complete life for the leader of the Zealots who was pardoned by Pontius Pilate. As such, this story will greatly appeal to Christian fiction readers everywhere. Escott further explains that, "This is the type of story that could serve as a foundational read for Christian education classes, especially in advance of the Lenten season. The story entertains, but also provides material for instructional study of actual Biblical events and characters." That said, since the story is vividly drawn with well-researched details that hones in on the 40 years between the crucifixion of Jesus and the siege of Jerusalem, readers of historical fiction will find themselves eagerly flying through the novel's pages with hearty abandon.

The enthralling tale of "A Life for Barabbas" follows none other than the dangerous and notorious Barabbas himself as he finds himself arrested, found guilty, and sentenced to death by crucifixion. At about the same time, Jesus is arrested and brought before Pontius Pilate for judgment. As was custom for the Passover Feast, Pontius Pilate offers the crowd that had gathered at his palace a choice to pardon Jesus, or Barabbas. The crowd calls for the release of Barabbas, and the crucifixion of Jesus. Returning to his family would endanger them, so Barabbas follows a crowd to Calvary where he has a profound spiritual encounter with the crucified Jesus. Once he sees the risen Christ, Barabbas understands what he must do and thus decides to begin his journey to redemption. Barabbas travels to and settles down in Jerusalem, and over the years, becomes instrumental in protecting the Christian community there. As the Roman threat grows, Barabbas helps evacuate the community from the city itself, thus saving many lives in the process. After some time, he travels to Damascus to confirm that Saul has become Paul, a follower of Jesus. United with Paul, Barabbas takes it upon himself to prepare the Apostle for his journeys.
