A bold new documentary confronts the urgent question: What can we do?
LOS ANGELES - s4story -- The feature documentary Lightworkers, directed by Bobby Roth, is now available to stream worldwide at lightworkersdoc.com.
Lightworkers is a powerful and unflinching mosaic documentary in which thirty-five diverse men and women confront what they see as a defining crisis of our time: the dismantling of American democracy.
Driven by a central and urgent question, "What can we do?", Roth engages a wide-ranging group of voices in a deeply personal and socio-historic exploration of activism, courage, empathy, and responsibility.
"I posed that question to people I respect, and they immediately understood," says Roth. "They believe our democracy is under threat, and that it is up to each of us to respond."
Through a series of intimate interviews, Lightworkers examines how individuals become who they are, what compels them to act, and how ordinary citizens can make meaningful change. The film highlights voices from across American life, including actors Henry Winkler and Peter Coyote, musician and activist Tom Morello; former Congressman Adam Kinzinger, artist and activist Shepard Fairey, and Congressman Jamie Raskin, among others. Rather than offering a single perspective, the film brings together a chorus of individuals Roth identifies as "lightworkers", people who prioritize helping others and see themselves as part of a broader social responsibility.

Originally conceived as both a personal journey and an educational exercise, the film reflects Roth's attempt to understand activism outside of traditional party politics. By engaging directly with citizens across different backgrounds, Lightworkers seeks to reach a broad cross-section of the American public, particularly those whose voices and votes shape the nation's future.
The film is written, directed, and produced by Bobby Roth, in collaboration with editor and producer Jesse Kane and producer Monica Valdes. Available now on its official website, Lightworkers invites audiences, educators, and communities to engage with the film's central question in real time.
