Kumu Michelle Manu, a pioneer in the Martial Arts, has dedicated her life to promoting the ancient Hawaiian martial art, "Lua" and the empowerment of women, joins Soke David Dye at the Masters in 2021.
COSTA MESA, Calif. - s4story -- Dr. Daniel Hect, Chairman, and CEO of the Masters Hall of Fame announced Kumu Michelle Manu as the Grandmaster of Ceremonies at the 2021 MHOF Banquet to be held Saturday, August 14, 2021.
"Michelle Manu is one of the true traditional martial arts leaders of this era, and she has dedicated her life to promoting the Hawaiian martial art of Lua and the empowerment of women. I cannot think of anyone more qualified to be the 2021 Grandmaster of Ceremonies," said Grandmaster German Hernandez Vice President, Masters Hall of Fame Chairman.
Kumu Manu holds a 10th Black Belt in the ancient Hawaiian Combat Art, Lua, and is the only woman disciple and earned the title of teacher (Kumu) under the late Grand Master ('Ōlohe) Solomon Kaihewalu. Michelle is also the only woman, to be given the designation of "Knight Commander" of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I for her continued work in promoting, protecting, and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture by and through the Lua.
