FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - s4story -- Monera Capital Group LLC has acquired Sterling Street Financial, an independent sales organization and broker in the alternative funding space. The deal closed in late July. Terms were not disclosed.

Monera underwrites and funds deals itself, on technology it built in house. The one piece it didn't own was origination, so many of the applications it funded came in through outside brokers and lead sources it didn't control.

Sterling changes that. It's an ISO with sales relationships and lead generation that's been running since 2021, plus a renewal book built from years of funding small businesses. Monera now owns that pipeline directly, instead of buying access to it deal by deal.

"Origination was the one piece of this business we never owned," said Zain Razvi, Co-Founder and CEO of Monera Capital Group LLC. "Now the person talking to the merchant and the person making the funding call are looking at the same data. This acquisition gives us end-to-end ownership of the deal, from first contact to funding."

Sterling's systems are being folded into Monera's internal stack, so applications, underwriting, and funding sit on the same platform instead of three separate ones. That cuts a step out of the process between a merchant applying and Monera making a call on the deal, and it puts the whole experience in Monera's hands instead of a broker's.

The Sterling Street Financial name isn't going anywhere. It will keep operating as its own brand under Monera Capital ownership.

The acquisition is also a bet on where the industry is headed. Merchant acquisition costs keep rising across alternative funding, and owning origination outright is Monera's answer: more of its own pipeline over time, less reliance on outside submission flow.
