DALLAS - s4story -- Dr. Kathryn D. "Cathy" Brownlee concludes her 21-year tenure as founder and conductor of the New Texas Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) with a Mother's Day concert on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Moody Performance Hall, Dallas Arts District.

The program bridges classical masterworks with contemporary Dallas talent, featuring The Skinny Cooks, known for their unique blend of jazz, classical, and hip-hop elements. "This program embodies everything we've worked to achieve at NTSO," says Dr. Brownlee. "We will honor our classical foundations while embracing new voices and proving that orchestral music is alive and evolving in Dallas."
The search for new leadership has attracted more than 50 qualified applicants from across the nation. "The caliber of candidates speaks volumes about what Dr. Brownlee has created here in Dallas and the NTSO's reputation in the classical world," notes Steven Couch, NTSO Search Committee Chair. "We look forward to the challenge of selecting the NTSO's next conductor and artistic director - not someone to replace Cathy, who will remain on our board to help guide us into the future, but will continue with our mission of making classical musical accessible to everyone."
