55 Years of Music in Naples
The Naples Concert Band's roots stretch back to 1972, when Naples Parks & Recreation Director George Reardon envisioned creating a municipal band for the community. The band's first rehearsal was held on February 28, 1972, and its first concert was performed at Cambier Park with just 30 musicians.

From those humble beginnings, the Naples Concert Band has grown into one of Southwest Florida's enduring musical traditions. Today, more than 80 dedicated volunteer musicians take the stage, continuing the band's mission of bringing people together through exceptional music that uplifts, connects and enriches the community.

The band's relationship with Cambier Park is also woven into its history. Naples Concert Band members helped spearhead fundraising efforts for the original Cambier Park Bandshell, which was dedicated in 1987.

Under the Direction of Dr. Tim Yontz
The Naples Concert Band is led by Music Director and Conductor Dr. Tim Yontz.  Dr. Yontz retired in May 202 as Professor of Music, Head of Instrumental Studies and Director of Bands for the Bower School of Music & the Arts at Florida Gulf Coast University. He holds a Ph.D. in Administration, Curriculum and Instruction in Music from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a Master of Music from Butler University and a Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University.
