Poetry Quarterly Returns in Print With Its Fall 2026 Issue, Featuring 42 Poets
S For Story/10707799
Issue #48 of the long-running poetry journal, its first new issue since 2021, is out in paperback from Prolific Press with 53 poems on grief, play, travel and the small hours of the night.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - s4story -- Poetry Quarterly is back in print with Issue #48, its first new issue in five years. The paperback, published by Prolific Press, collects 53 poems by 42 poets.
The issue runs 80 pages in a 5.5 x 8.5 inch paperback. Every poem was chosen from open submissions and read by the editors before acceptance, and each poet had the chance to review the finished layout before it went to print.
"Coming back after a long pause, we wanted this issue to feel like the journal readers remember: careful, generous and wide open to new voices," said Glenn Lyvers, editor-in-chief of Poetry Quarterly. "These poets trusted us with their work, and I'm proud of what they made together."

The poems range from the domestic to the far-flung. A scarecrow explains why it loves October, the needle tells the haystack it is home, and Lois Lane dreams of dying. Readers travel to Kuala Lumpur, Chicago and Ladora, Iowa, sit through the stillness after a snowfall and the music rain makes, and keep company with the nurse watching over our wounds.
Contributors to the Fall 2026 issue are Edward Ahern, Duane Anderson, Lynn Axelrod, Robert Baldwin, KB Ballentine, Stephen Barile, Barbara Brooks, Karen Carter, Tiffiniy Cheng, Conor Christofferson, Mike Coste, Suzanne Cottrell, Lynette Esposito, Frank William Finney, Eoin Flannery, Keith Gaboury, Gail Greenwood, Lily Jarman-Reisch, Paul Juhasz, Peter J. King, Nicholas Kriefall, Melissa Laussmann, LindaAnn LoSchiavo, DS Maolalai, Carolyn Martin, Jennifer Miller, Mark J. Mitchell, James B. Nicola, Keith David Parsons, Michael Rayzer, Arthur Russell, Tom Russell, Carol Saffioti-Hughes, David Anthony Sam, Cullen Senger, Brandon Shane, Mark Simpson, Cate Terwilliger, Susan Thurston, Ridwan Tukur, Doug Van Hooser, and Peter W. Yaremko.
