Sellars Celebrates 40 Years of Cleanups with "Messy Moments" Giveaway
S For Story/10657999
MILWAUKEE, April 30, 2025 ~ Milwaukee-based company Sellars is celebrating its 40th anniversary by inviting people to share their "Messy Moments." The company, known for its products that clean up spills, splashes, and drips, is encouraging individuals to submit photos of any mess they have caused or encountered at home, work, or anywhere else.
To participate in the contest, which runs until May 26th, individuals can visit Sellars' Facebook page and comment on the weekly "Messy Moments" post with a picture of the problem area or situation. Each week, one winner will be chosen to receive a $350 Visa e-card and $50 worth of Sellars' products.
Michelle Gross, vice president of marketing for Sellars, explains the inspiration behind the contest: "We all know stuff happens. Since it's our 40th anniversary of providing products that are used to wipe, clean and absorb, we thought it would be fun to share some of the unexpected messes that occur each and every day."

Sellars was founded in 1985 by John Sellars in his garage. His initial products were designed as an alternative to expensive and ineffective options for absorbing leaks and spills on factory floors. As sales grew, John's brother Bill joined the company in 1986. The business continued to expand and eventually moved into its first manufacturing facility in Milwaukee in 1987. Today, Sellars has over 200 employees and operates three manufacturing plants and four distribution centers.
The company is known for its proprietary technology that allows them to create high-performing products from recycled materials. In fact, they hold 20 U.S. patents and 30 international patents for their innovative processes. Additionally, Sellars recycles its own production waste to create some of their absorbent products.
Sellars offers a variety of products for cleaning up messes including their popular TOOLBOX® Blue Shop Towels made from 60% recycled fiber, and TOOLBOX® White Rags made from up to 45% recycled fibers. These products are commonly used in garages, homes, and auto shops. For DIY enthusiasts, Sellars' white rags are perfect for painting, staining, wallpapering, and other tasks both indoors and outdoors.
