Inspired by the life of her Great-Great-Grandmother, Adelphine Samson, this novel transports readers to Isle Madame from 1912 to 1920, weaving together elements of fiction, truth, and spirituality.
The novel chronicles the love story of Adelphine Samson and Travis McDougal, two passionate and strong-willed individuals torn between their desires. Set against the backdrop of World War I, their relationship unfolds in the small, scenic community of Isle Madame, off the coast of Cape Breton. Adelphine, a woman with a restless spirit and desire to explore the world, finds herself in love with Travis, a writer who seeks the simplicity of island life. Their intense love is tested by conflicting dreams, leading to a climactic confrontation that questions their future together.
