"I never wrote 'Wind Fly South' thinking about awards," Hawkins says. "I wrote it because I had a story to tell. The Delta Blues has always been about storytelling, emotion, and truth, and that's what I tried to bring to this song. To see it recognized by music organizations around the world is incredibly humbling."
The song reflects Hawkins' continuing commitment to original songwriting and the blues tradition while bringing his experiences and musical voice to the genre.
The recognition comes as Hawkins continues From There To Here, an ongoing album project built around personal stories, memories, people, and musical experiences that have shaped his journey as an artist.
"Wind Fly South" is available now on all major streaming services.
"Four recognitions, two wins, and two chapters still waiting to be written," Hawkins says. "I'm grateful for every part of the journey."
