Syreeta Luckie's Journey from Supporting Domestic Abuse Survivors to Healing Through Reiki
S For Story/10687676
Inascope Media today announces the release of a new episode of Spots of Time, featuring Syreeta, a former domestic abuse specialist who spent over a decade supporting women in crisis before discovering a very different path to healing through Reiki
EAST LONDON, U.K. - s4story -- Syreeta reflects on the emotional demands of working in the domestic abuse sector, where she spent more than ten years supporting women who had escaped violent relationships. She worked across many frontline services including courts, police stations, housing services and community support programmes helping women navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
It was work she found meaningful and rewarding. But over time, the emotional weight of the role began to take its toll. Syreeta describes working with increasingly complex cases supporting women facing domestic abuse alongside issues such as addiction, housing instability and mental health challenges.

Caseloads grew significantly, with some practitioners supporting up to 60 cases at one time.During lockdown, when travel and daily routines suddenly stopped, Syreeta found herself with something she had not experienced for years — time to pause and reflect. It was during this period that she began exploring ways to protect her own mental health, including meditation, journaling and mindfulness practices.
While visiting a beautician for a facial, Syreeta was introduced to the idea of Reiki, a form of energy healing focused on balancing the body's energy centres, often referred to as chakras. The experience proved transformative.Syreeta describes the first treatment as a powerful emotional and spiritual shift something difficult to explain in words, but one that helped her realise she had reached a crossroads in her career.Despite being successful and highly experienced in her work, she recognised that the passion she once felt for the role had faded. Within months she began training in Reiki herself.
