TVCG Physicians Lead Community Education on Vascular Health Across Massachusetts
S For Story/10689964
Drs. Stratton Danes and Jay Phillips engage local seniors through educational outreach in Duxbury and Chatham
BURLINGTON, Mass. - s4story -- The Vascular Care Group (TVCG), the largest independent group of board-certified vascular specialists in the country, continues to advance awareness of vascular disease and promote earlier diagnosis and treatment. Vascular conditions, including peripheral artery disease (PAD), affect millions of Americans but often go unrecognized until reaching advanced stages. The disease remains significantly underdiagnosed and undertreated, particularly among high-risk populations.
Vascular disease is a serious and often silent condition. Left undetected, it can lead to chronic pain, non-healing wounds, limb loss, and major cardiovascular events. Despite these risks, screening and early detection remain underutilized.
Addressing this gap is central to TVCG's mission. Through an ongoing physician-led community outreach initiative, the organization brings vascular health education directly to local communities, helping individuals better understand their risk, recognize warning signs, and seek care earlier.

OVERVIEW
Dr. Stratton Danes, a vascular surgeon at TVCG's Plymouth office, and Dr. Jay Phillips, a podiatrist with the group, recently presented to senior audiences across Massachusetts on vascular health and disease prevention. Their efforts are part of a broader initiative to engage communities and improve long-term patient outcomes.
As TVCG continues to expand its regional presence, community education remains a critical component of its approach to care—connecting with patients before advanced intervention is needed.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Drs. Danes and Phillips recently spoke at the Village at Duxbury and the Chatham Council on Aging, reaching large groups of seniors with information on vascular disease, foot health, risk factors, and treatment options.
"Vascular disease is often underdiagnosed, particularly in older populations, despite being highly treatable when identified early," said Dr. Stratton Danes. "These opportunities allow us to connect directly with patients and help them better understand when to seek care."
"Foot health is often one of the first areas where signs of vascular disease appear, especially in patients with diabetes," said Dr. Jay Phillips. "With early education, we can help prevent complications and ensure timely, appropriate care."

The sessions focused on recognizing symptoms, understanding key risk factors such as diabetes and smoking, and emphasizing early intervention. Attendees also learned about the connection between vascular and foot health, as well as minimally invasive treatment options available through TVCG.
