United Way honors outstanding volunteers

FORT MYERS, Fla. - s4story -- Volunteers who contribute countless hours and dedication to United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades were honored at the organization's annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast.

Held May 4 at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers, the event welcomed nearly 250 volunteers, staff, donors and board members in recognition of Volunteer Appreciation Month.

Awards were presented to individuals and organizations for their dedication to the nonprofit and support of its work in the community.

The award recipients were:
  • United Way Champion Award – Tom Uhler
  • "Day of Caring" Company of the Year – Mattress Firm
  • Community Partnership School Partner of the Year – FGCU
  • Campaign Coordinator of the Year – Angela Guttery
  • Impact Award – Mary Snell
  • Community of the Year – Grandezza

United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades Interim President and CEO Hannah Pelle commended the volunteers for their extraordinary commitment, stating, "It's because of the passion and countless hours our volunteers devote that we're able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the hundreds of thousands we help each year."
