GREEN BAY, Wis. - s4story -- Following in the footsteps of an overachieving, ultra-responsible parent isn't always the path of choice for the next generation. That is the challenge for Timothy, the father figure in the ninth and final installment of Kevin J. Smith's Discovering Kindness short story series on Amazon.

Timothy learns the hard way that the ability of a parent to realize the futility of imprinting wishes on the chosen one can be the deciding factor in maintaining their bond going forward. In fact, arriving at this conclusion can also open the parent's eyes to a solution they may not have even considered.

As an Eagle Scout and eager protégé for his father's auto repair business, he displayed a level of responsibility and quest for achievement that transitioned smoothly into a career of his own. When the time came for his oldest child, Charlie, to follow in his footsteps, Timothy discovers the rebellious teen has dreams of his own. Will Timothy realize he must allow his son to choose his own path or will his obstinacy cause irreparable damage?
