The ancestral fortune originated with colonial land grant acquired, timber, tobacco businesses owned by David Williams.  His 19th century grandson & heir David P. Williams, who secure the direct inheritance, upper class upbringing of his mixed-race son, Archie P. Williams. A. P. Williams transitioning the legacy from plantation-era agriculture to early 20th-century oil and gas interests. His grandson, Archie J.
