YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - s4story -- Jan-Carol Publishing, Inc., of Johnson City, Tennessee, is thrilled to announce the release of Abramo's Gift, by Donald Greco.

Donald Greco (greconovels.com and/or dongreconovels@gmail.com) grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and has lived in Ohio all his life, fulfilling a career as a fifth-grade schoolteacher, a high school geometry teacher, and later as a professor of mathematics. He always dreamed of writing stories, so quietly, in his spare time, he wrote novels throughout his adult life. The only one who knew of his secret passion was his beloved wife, Angie, whom he tragically lost several years ago. He is still a resident of Ohio and is the father of three sons and five grandchildren. So far, he has written four of the five novels of the Youngstown Quintet. The first four are now available on Amazon, and the last novel in the quintet will be out later in 2024. What Ever Happened to the Smooth-Tongued Cats? was his first story for children, published in 2022.

Originally published in 2008, Abramo's Gift is a family saga and love story that takes place in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1920. A disheartened, young, Italian widower, an immigrant named Abramo Cardone, arrives in Youngstown to work in one of the steel mills.

At the time, the small city seethed with ethnic strife between Italian and Irish immigrants because they were forced to underbid each other for low-paying jobs in the mills. Amid this turmoil, Abramo saves the life of an Irish girl who has been raped by two members of a vicious local Irish gang called the Hannons.

Abramo is also injured in the rescue, and his life is saved, in turn, by a little orphaned street urchin who hides him from the same gang. All the people in Abramo's life interact in this story to unite him, the Irish girl, and the little girl who saved his life. It is a multifaceted love story.
