Testimonials/reviews:
"At first, I thought it was a collection of short stories until it dawned on me that it's a collection of significant events that encompassed the struggle of an immigrant. It's a story about ambition, the bravery to push through with it, and the difficulties that Black Candy faced. It is well-written. It was almost diary-like to me... It touched on so many realities in someone's life that it was so easy to put oneself in Black Candy's shoes." ~ Dawn, Dubai.

"A charming account …" ~ Kathryn, Australia.
Q & A Angelo Raza, Author of Black Candy
1. In 60 seconds, what is Black Candy about?
Sick of being treated like a foreigner in his home country Madagascar, Fanoo (Black Candy) decided to migrate to Australia with his family, in the quest of freedom and a fair go. What he found was far beyond his imagination as his journey turned into a thrilling and perilous adventure. "Black Candy" is a celebration of faith and friendship, a guide to reinventing yourself through change, and an experience of the unique and vibrant lifestyle of Northern Australia.
2. Who is this book for?
The book is at first written for readers who are looking for an intense adventure experience, but it is also designed to help those who want a fresh start, including either relocating to a new country or considering a career move. Choosing Australia to call home often seems to be an unrealistic challenge for many prospective migrants with a big family, and most of the time the worries start once you get your Visa granted. Being able to have a feel of the reality ahead of the departure equips prospective migrants with more awareness and resilience to reach a successful settlement in record time.

3. Can you give an overview of the book?
The six steps to your fresh start:
Part 1. The Australian dream, Aim for Change
Part 2. Leaving the home country, Commit to Change
Part 3. Welcome to worry land, Face the Change
Part 4. Live the life, Live the Change
Part 5. Burden of the past, Remember who you are!
Part 6. Transformation, Be the Change!
4. Tell us about the main character Fanoo.
Fanoo is a middle class, black man, a native Malagasy, very sociable, humble and patriotic, big dreamer and romantic. He worked in a mining project, in a leadership position and tried hard to bring a valuable impact to his home country through his job and his social activities. An incident in a restaurant in the capital of Madagascar triggered his decision to uproot himself and migrate to Australia where he had to start from scratch with his family. His story was an ultimate « pursuit of happiness ».
5. What was the most helpful feedback you got while writing your book?
People who read the first chapter said, "This sounds like my own story," which means I can write on behalf of people who have (or about to have) this experience. That will help them show to their children the value of their sacrifice toward their dream. (see video)
