Brazoswood High School Girls Soccer Headlines Record-Breaking Year as 2026 Third Annual Grant Teaff Beyond the Game Team Award Recipient

WACO, Texas - s4story -- Brazoswood High School's Lady Buc Soccer Program has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Grant Teaff Beyond the Game Team Award and will receive a $5,000 grant from the Grant Teaff Foundation.
The Grant Teaff Foundation and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, with the support of the Texas High School Coaches Association, the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association and Dave Campbell's Texas Sports, present this award annually to Texas high school teams that exemplify outstanding service to their communities beyond the game.
"High school coaches have a unique opportunity to shape their athletes' lives by fostering a culture of servant leadership," said Grant Teaff, a member of eight halls of fame, including the College Football Hall of Fame and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. "I commend Coach Kim Blank and the Lady Buc's for their exceptional leadership and dedication to selfless service."
The Lady Buc Soccer Program participated in a wide range of service opportunities, including volunteering at the local SPCA, supporting nursing home events, organizing donations for BISD's Stuff the Bus, partnering with the Brazosport Junior Service League, assisting with numerous district and community events, and contributing to local organizations through outreach and service projects. Through these initiatives, student-athletes collectively contributed hundreds of hours of community service while making a meaningful impact across their community.

"We are incredibly grateful to be recognized with the Grant Teaff Beyond the Game Team Award," Coach Blank said. "Lady Buc Soccer is built on a foundation of servant leadership, and I am so proud of the way our athletes choose to lead with character, serve with purpose and show up for others in meaningful ways. This award reflects a culture that believes in using athletics as a platform to make a difference instilling empathy, compassion and a commitment to leaving our community better than we found it."
The Lady Buc Soccer Program will be honored for its achievement at the 2026 Texas Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on April 18, where they will be recognized among the state's most accomplished sports figures. The team will also receive year-round recognition through the Grant Teaff Beyond the Game digital display inside the Hall of Fame.
The impact of this work reflects the standard set by Coach Grant Teaff and the mission of the award itself.
"Coach Grant Teaff has long exemplified the power of servant leadership and the influence coaches have beyond the game," said Joe Martin, executive director of the Texas High School Coaches Association. "I congratulate Coach Kim Blank and her team for their outstanding commitment to serving their community."

The 2026 award cycle marked a record-breaking year for the program, with 105 Texas high schools nominated for their commitment to community service, more than double the number of applicants from the previous year.
Due to this exceptional number of nominations, 20 additional schools have been selected to receive $1,000 grants in recognition of their outstanding community service efforts; an increase from four schools recognized last year. These schools were chosen from a highly competitive pool and represent the very best of service-minded athletic programs across the state.
The Grant Teaff Foundation extends its gratitude to all nominated schools for their dedication to serving others and for embodying the values of leadership, character and community that define the Beyond the Game mission.
All nominated schools are featured on Grant Teaff Foundation's website at www.grantteaff.org.
