Cape Cod Author and Coast Guard Veteran Breaks Silence on PTSD in New Memoir 'Hold Fast'
S For Story/10685815
A raw look at the domestic battle of a Coast Guard veteran navigating the intersection of military service, family life, and the long road to healing on Cape Cod.
FALMOUTH, Mass. - s4story -- Local author and Coast Guard veteran P.J. Lyons announces the release of his memoir, Hold Fast: A man's journey through grief, fatherhood, and the quiet war of PTSD. Speaking to maritime and military communities across New England and beyond, Lyons explores the "quiet war" that began after the sudden death of his brother and continued through his years of service, marriage, and raising four children on the Cape.
Hold Fast is not a story of battlefield heroics, but of the domestic battle to "come home" after the armor of service begins to crack. From migrant rescues at sea to coaching at the hockey rink to the kitchen floor, Lyons provides a brutally honest look at how PTSD unravels a life and the messy, beautiful process of putting it back together.
