PPGJLI Launches Campaign to Donate 12,000 Books and Expand Literacy Access
S For Story/10689568
ST. PAUL, Minn. - s4story -- Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute (PPGJLI) is calling on the public to help expand literacy access and close reading gaps across underserved communities.
In 2025, PPGJLI engaged 801 students and community members, donated 9,284 diverse books, published 74 authors across 10 books, partnered with 106 organizations, and supported 8 interns. The organization has earned Candid's Platinum Seal of Transparency, placing it among the top 1% of charities nationwide.
However, the literacy crisis persists. 43 million adults and 25 million children lack essential reading skills, and 70% of low-income fourth graders are not reading proficiently.
PPGJLI has set a new goal to donate 12,000 diverse books by 2027.
