Long Beach, CA ~ The City of Long Beach Department of Financial Management is asking vendors to participate in a Vendor Engagement Survey. The survey, which launched on May 8 and closes on June 2, is available in English, Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog. It was sent to over 25,000 vendors registered with the City and targeted outreach was conducted to active contractors via its departments, prospective vendors via business associations, business navigators and community-based organizations, and the broader community through City Council offices and social media.

The survey aims to identify barriers faced by prospective and current vendors, improve vendor outreach especially to Long Beach businesses, and prioritize and design solutions to increase opportunities for contracting. The City has undertaken an Extreme Procurement Makeover - a comprehensive initiative to remake its procurement systems and processes - in collaboration with the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab (GPL). This project has focused on increasing outreach and responsiveness to vendors as well as launching the City's new e-procurement portal, Long Beach Buys.
