Connect launches guide on closing The Readiness Gap in frontline organisations
S For Story/10689970
LONDON - s4story -- Connect, the workforce identity and access platform from Cocentric, today launched The Cost of Getting Day One Wrong, a new industry guide examining The Readiness Gap: the cost frontline organisations incur when system access isn't ready for new hires on day one.
Connect benchmarking across client deployments shows frontline platform adoption in manual access environments typically sits between 40% and 50%, with up to 15% of licences going to unused ghost accounts. HR teams often absorb over 30 hours a month in manual onboarding admin, and manual provisioning can cost £30,000 to £45,000 in unnecessary admin per 1,000 seasonal hires.
The pattern reflects a wider issue. A widely cited 2018 Microsoft and Forrester study found 77% of frontline workers don't have access to the right technology to do their jobs. Seven years on, most enterprise systems are still designed around desk-based employees with corporate email.

"Most enterprise technology was built for desk-based workers with corporate email. That leaves the majority of the frontline workforce outside the systems their employers have already invested in," said Regan Collins, CEO of Cocentric and Connect. "That's the gap we're closing."
The guide draws on Connect's work with organisations including Ennismore, the global hospitality group behind brands such as The Hoxton, Mama Shelter and Mondrian, and Fagerhult Group, a European lighting manufacturer.
At Ennismore, Connect unified identity across 27,500 employees and more than 250 locations, including around 17,000 frontline employees without corporate email. At Fagerhult Group, Connect connected 4,000 employees across 16 independent brands and 12 Entra ID tenants under a single identity layer.
"It's become our single source of truth, and the key to connecting every employee across Ennismore," said Tom Rimmer, EVP of Technology at Ennismore.
