This prestigious recognition celebrates outstanding independent publishing and honors creative excellence and innovation in storytelling.
In a competitive field of entries across the nation, Danger in the Hills stood out to the NIEA judging panel for its captivating narrative, vivid characters, and heartfelt origins. Co-created with her late father, known to readers as "Uncle Jerry," Fahey's story blends environmental fantasy with timeless themes of courage, friendship, and survival.
"Winning this award is deeply meaningful," said Fahey. "Danger in the Hills began as bedtime stories from my dad, and finishing them together—even after his passing—has been a way to keep his spirit alive. I'm thrilled to see our NOLO world connecting with readers."
