S For Story/10700627
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - s4story -- Royse Contemporary is thrilled to present "Mood", a solo exhibition by Daniel Shepherd. In this new body of work, Shepherd pushes the possibilities of color, line, abstraction, and collage, creating compositions that are both raw and energetic. Moving fluidly between painting and collage, the artist embraces bold color, expressive movement, and layered forms to explore the emotional and visceral power of abstraction. "Mood" offers an exciting and fresh look at Shepherd's evolving practice, bringing together a diverse collection that is vibrant, immediate, and full of energy.
"Mood" refers to the artists desire to convey a different mood, emotion, or mindset with each artwork." Shepherd explains "these paintings are an extension of my earlier minimal colourbox paintings, while highlighting the progression of his work with these new mixed media works that fuse together his painting and collages. With a renewed artistic direction reflecting an expansive approach to color, composition, and movement, bringing together the visual and atmospheric sensibilities that have shaped his recent work.

Shepherd's paintings explore minimalism and abstraction through acrylic paint applied to repurposed, hand-distressed wood panels. His technique brings bright, saturated colors into energetic dialogue with bold line work and organic forms, creating compositions that feel both spontaneous and carefully considered. Alongside his paintings, Shepherd continues his exploration of vintage collage, reconfiguring found imagery and familiar subjects in unexpected ways while preserving their elegance and natural beauty. Across both mediums, his distinctive organic sensibility creates a visual language that is playful, expressive, and deeply attuned to color and movement.
Daniel Shepherd is a Phoenix-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses abstract painting, collage, and mixed-media artwork. His work is held in private collections around the world, and he has exhibited extensively throughout Arizona and California. His work is represented by Royse Contemporary and has been featured in numerous print and online publications. Through his vibrant and distinctive approach to abstraction, Shepherd continues to explore the expressive possibilities of color, line, form, and found imagery.
