Aaron's in his first year of college and in need of a part-time job. When he secures a position as security for a funeral home, he expects it'll be a quiet, easy gig. But that all changes when he encounters a zombie named Kyle. Unexpectedly, he befriends the zombie, and with the help of his best friend and others, he learns about an ancient organization known as the Gatekeepers. The Gatekeepers are responsible for maintaining the gateways between worlds and keeping mythical beings out of the mortal realm.

When Kyle and Aaron are asked to join the Gatekeepers, they begin a journey in the Underworld and learn of their mission: to rid the world of darkness. Kyle and Aaron must literally go to Hell and back in order to make sure that the world does not succumb to the powers of the Lord of the Damned, who will enslave the entire world if he is not stopped.

Josh Price was inspired to write Reaper and delve into the world of the Gatekeepers after a conversation discussing what it would be like to communicate with someone beyond the grave. He's inspired by writers like Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, and the Artemis Fowl series. Price is currently hard at work on the rest of the Gatekeepers series, as well as a steampunk interpretation of Jason and the Argonauts.
