Fall Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art
S For Story/10676698
BEDMINSTER, N.J. - s4story -- The Center for Contemporary Art's ("The Center") fall exhibitions continue and will remain on view through December 7. The Center's galleries are free and open to the public seven days a week.
Murmuration features the art of Co11ective, a group formed in 2020 and made up of eight artists from New Jersey, New York, and Aruba who work across a broad range of media and styles including sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, creative writing, video, installation, and interdisciplinary work. As a group of artists, they consider what the phenomenon of murmuration can teach them about collaboration: How can they make a body of work that is both greater than the sum of its parts and true to their individual practices? Inspired by the concept of murmuration, this group exhibition is comprised of individual pieces and collaborative works that come together as a whole. Co11ective Members: Katrina Bello, Berendina Buist, Joseph Castronova, Nova Darkstar, Frank May, Wes Sherman, Elie Porter Trubert, Katie Truk

Getting Dressed in the Dark showcases the work of Gabriella D'Italia. D'Italia is an interdisciplinary, award-winning fine artist, writer, and Master Gardener. Her work explores home, nature, female identity and the contributions of these environments to our human wisdom and sustenance. She is best known for her highly inquisitive, pro-craft, feminist fiber works and multimedia collage. Her work has been exhibited at biennials, salons, embassies, and galleries internationally.
Linda Mead's In Disarray explores feelings of impermanence, fragility and unease through imagery combining intaglio printmaking processes and drawing. The works portray a world of chaos while also inviting the viewer to take a closer look and, perhaps, find some beauty in the fray. Originally, Mead's areas of concentration were jewelry and textile design. After spending many years as a painter, she returned to working with metal, etching images in copper plates and working primarily as a printmaker. Her work reflects a sense of unease triggered by the precarious state of the world and the consequences of human behavior.
