Uranium Film Festival comes from Rio de Janeiro to Window Rock, Navajo Nation, and to Las Vegas, Nevada, in November 2025
LAS VEGAS - s4story -- You can't see it, hear it, smell it, or taste it, but it still can kill you: radioactivity! This is the theme of the International Uranium Film Festival (IUFF), which is taking place for the fourth time in Window Rock and for the second time in Las Vegas in November this year. In the presence of several filmmakers, the festival will screen over a dozen of "atomic" films November 13th and 14th at the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock, and on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at the Downtown Cinemas in Las Vegas.
This year's film selection is dedicated to the memory of the atomic bombings and their consequences. 80 years of nuclear weapons. Do not forget Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The International Uranium Film Festival (IUFF) was founded in 2010 in Rio de Janeiro by Brazilian social scientist Márcia Gomes de Oliveira and German environmental journalist Norbert Suchanek. It is dedicated to all radioactive issues and the entire nuclear fuel chain – from uranium mining to nuclear waste, nuclear weapons and nuclear accidents. Since 2016, when the International Uranium Film Festival was first held at the famous Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, Los Angeles, it has also been known as the Atomic Age Cinema Fest. Last year, it was named one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World" by MovieMaker Magazine in Hollywood. This year, the festival founders, Márcia Gomes de Oliveira and Norbert Suchanek, also received the prestigious Nuclear-Free Future Award.

"This is the fourth time that we are in Window Rock and the second time in Las Vegas," says festival director Norbert Suchanek. "In 2024, we held our Uranium Film Festival in Las Vegas for the first time. It was a wonderful experience. Even Shelley Berkley, the current mayor of Las Vegas, honored us with her presence. Now we want to establish the IUFF in Las Vegas and Window Rock as an annual event like in Rio de Janeiro."
"We are looking forward to a large audience. Expect great films, interesting filmmakers and extraordinary people," adds festival director Márcia Gomes de Oliveira from Rio de Janeiro.
